Kupwara woman publishes two poetry books

Handwara, Jun 07 (KNO): A 24-year-old female from Kupwara district has published two poetry books highlighting drug addiction and growing suicidal tendencies among youth in the region.

Qurat Ul Ain of Vodhpora Shahbaz New Colony in Kupwara with master’s in Economics from the University of Kashmir is presently working at a private school.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), she said that her two books were published by Robin Barren publication.

“I have highlighted the growing drug addiction among youth. How it is consuming the lives of young people. Also, the impact it is leaving,” she said.

Qurat said that her poetry emphasizes the alarming situation due to the rising figures of drug addiction in the valley. “Youth are falling into drugs, thus ruining their lives.”

Her second book Suicide, she said highlights the ever-increasing suicidal tendencies among people.

“The book aims to address the things and concerns related to suicides. We often see suicides happening across the valley for different reasons which is worrying,” Qurat said.

She also said her poetry about suicides aims at awaring people about the importance of human life.

Her father, Abdul Gaffar War told KNO that they have always been supportive of their daughter.

“She has our back. We want her to do well. She always aimed to write. It is a matter of pride and honor for the entire family,” Gaffar said while praising her daughter—(KNO)
