Under the leadership of SHO Police Station Lalpora, Inspector Malik Nasir, and the diligent efforts of DO Kuligam, PSI Azhar Shakeel, the police party carried out this operation under the watchful eye of SDPO Lolab, Sarfraz Bashir.
Acting on reliable information, the police arrested Banu Begam, wife of Mir Zaman and a resident of Doban Dever. During her apprehension, a significant quantity of approximately 300 grams of a substance resembling charas was confiscated from her.
The police have promptly registered a case, FIR No.79/2023, under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Lalpora. The investigation is now underway, and Banu Begam has been transferred to the Women Police Station Kupwara, where she will remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
This latest arrest marks the fourth in a series of actions against drug peddlers in the last 10 days, with cases registered under FIR No.71/2023, 73/2023, 74/2023, and 79/23 across Police Stations Lalpora. These operations have resulted in the apprehension of six individuals, including one female, and the confiscation of illegal narcotics.
Throughout the current year, Police Station Lalpora has taken proactive measures, registering 13 NDPS cases against 18 drug peddlers, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to ridding the community of drug-related crimes.
