Kashmir records over 69,000 vehicle registrations in 2023-24, Sgr leads with 26,000,

Srinagar Admin to Facilitate Movement of Govt Officials via ‘Pass System’

Srinagar, Jul 09: Kashmir has recorded over 69,000 vehicle registrations during the fiscal year 2023-24, with Srinagar leading with over 26,000 registrations, the highest among all ten districts of the valley.

According to data available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), out of these 69,000 vehicle registrations, over 28,000 were for motorcycles and scooters, making them the most registered type of vehicle in Kashmir.

Among the districts, Shopian recorded the lowest number of vehicle registrations with 2,551.

The data further reveals that Srinagar registered over 26,000 vehicles, including over 11,000 motorcycles and scooters, and 8,500 private vehicles. Across the region, the year saw over 22,000 private vehicle registrations and 575 bus and mini-bus registrations.

As of March 2024, Kashmir’s total vehicle population stands at over 870,000, with Srinagar accounting for the largest share at 335,000 vehicles. Budgam follows with over 146,000 registrations, and Anantnag comes in third with over 111,000 registrations—(KNO)
