Anantnag, Sep 07 (KNO): A NEET aspirant from South Kashmir’s Anantnag district who uploads Kashmiri sufi songs and poetry on different social media platforms to attract people towards our own Kashmiri language.

Saadath Mohi-ud-din Bhat, a resident of Hutmura Mattan in Anantnag district while talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that he has recently started a Podcast platform titled “Aao Unhe Yaad Karai” in which Ghazals and poetry of ancient and famous sufi saints are podcasted.

“I completed my 12th class examination last year and I am preparing for NEET examination which is scheduled to be held this month. I am also writing a poetry book which will be published very soon,” said Saadath.

He said that his aim to podcast sufi songs and poetry is to draw the attention of the youth towards Kashmiri sufi literature.

Sadaath said Kashmiri people mostly young boys and girls are feeling inferiority in speaking Kashmiri language and there is no one who has any interest in “our mother tongue.”

“When we are shying away from our own language, protecting our culture seems to be very difficult. There will be no traces of our own language and culture if our approach continues it,” Sadaath said.

Sadaath said that it is the duty of people of Kashmir to present “our mother tongue besides literature in such a way that it can attract people and won’t feel inferior in speaking it. “This land has produced famous sufi saints like Sheikh Noor-u-Din Wali (R.A) and in near past Soche Kral, Wahab Khar and other sufi poets but there are hardly one percent people in Kashmir who know about them and their literature.”

He said that when people are not knowing “our own heroes and studying their literature”, how can “we save our own culture and language.” In his message to people of Kashmir especially youth, Sadaath said: “Don’t feel any shyness in speaking Kashmiri language and protect own culture as no language and culture is superior or inferior.”—(KNO)
