Sopore, January 19: An anti-militant operation is currently in progress in Gujjarpeti Zaloora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.

They said Security forces, including Police and 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), cordoned off the forest area where terrorists are reportedly hiding in a hideout. According to sources, two terrorists are believed to be trapped inside.

A top police officer told GNS that security forces retaliated after few fire shots were observed following busting of a suspected militant hideout in the area. He said a strict cordon continues in the area.

“When a suspected hideout was busted, a few fire shots were observed from the spot and in response to observation few fire shot were retaliated,” he said, adding, “cordon has been laid and is strictly in place.”
