Pulwama youth’s solo 100 km run on National Highway wins hearts

Pulwama, Feb 9: A 20-year-old youth Yawar Reshi from Ratnipora village of Pulwama today made an example by running 100 km on the Srinagar-Jammu highway to raise awareness against drug abuse and inspire youth to improve health than damage it.

Yawar Reshi started his solo run from Qazigund in Anantnag district at 8 in the morning today and finished at 4.20 pm at Panthachowk in Srinagar.

Yawar said that he wanted to send the message to youth of Kashmir that they should focus on their health rather than damaging it by drug abuse.

The social science undergraduate student of Pulwama degree college, Yawar said he will pursue sports and education simultaneously to shape his career.

His parents felt proud when he reached him with people swarming it and garlanding him.

“Our son has set an example among youth and made us proud,” his parents said.

Yawar improved his health and stamina at a gym set up by a youth in Ratnipora village. His trainer was all praise for Yawar’s efforts.

“We are honored to train him from the very beginning at our gym (Big Gun Gym), within our own capacity and limitations,” Irfan Jalal, the trainer, said.

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Basharat Qayoom said the youth of Pulwama should take inspiration from Yawar to fight against drug menace.

“Yawar is a dedicated young man who ran 100 Kms to spread awareness about menace of drug’s. I appeal youth to join hands in this fight against drugs and may the effort of Yawar inspire thousands youth of Pulwama to fight against drugs,” he said.
