Srinagar, May 26: The heatwave continued across Jammu and Kashmir on Monday with Srinagar recording a maximum temperature of 31.8 degree Celsius.
According to the details shared by the Meteorological (MeT) Department with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded 5.8 degrees Celsius above normal temperature.
The details reveal that Qazigund, a gateway of Kashmir, has recorded a day temperature of 31.3 degrees Celsius while Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded 30.8 degrees Celsius.
Kokernag recorded 30.8 degrees Celsius while Gulmarg, a famous ski resort, has recorded a maximum temperature of 22.8 degrees Celsius.
Further, the Jammu division witnessed a slight improvement on Friday with Jammu City recording a day temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius.
Banihal, Batote, Katra and Bhaderwah recorded a maximum temperature of 29.1, 27.7, 35.2 and 29.6 degree Celsius, respectively.
Meanwhile, Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad has said that from May 27 to 31, the weather would remain generally hot & dry with the possibility of a brief spell of light rain and thundershower at scattered places—(KNO)
