Two Terrorist Associates Arrested in Tral; Explosives and Ammunition Recovered

Awantipora, July 3: In a major security operation, Awantipora Police along with the Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF’s 180 Battalion arrested two terrorist associates in the Wagad area of Tral and recovered arms and explosive materials from their possession.

They have been identified as:

  1. Umer Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, resident of Nader, Tral
  2. Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, resident of Kuchmulla, Tral

During the operation at a checkpoint established at Wagad crossing, the joint team recovered two hand grenades, 59 live AK-47 rounds, one AK-47 magazine, and other incriminating material.

According to police, the arrested individuals were actively involved in providing logistic support and transporting arms and ammunition to active militants affiliated with the proscribed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad in the Tral and Awantipora areas.

An FIR under number 86/2025 has been registered at Police Station Tral under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
