Bandipora tales: Teenage girl district’s remote village authors her debut novel

Bandipora, Sep 28: A teenage girl from a remote village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora has penned down her debut novel titled “Merciful Over and A Faith Snatcher”.

Hurriarah Yasir, a class 9th student of JNV school in Baramulla hails from Bonakoot village Bandipora. She has done her primary schooling from her native village.

Hurriarah while talking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that she had a flair for writing since childhood. “Over time, I started writing poetry in daily locals. I have won state-level writing competition organized by JKSC (Urdu poetry) and become the first girl to win ‘Golden Pen Award 2020’ by securing jury and public opinion in my favour.”

She said that she has written a novel titled “Merciful Over and A Faith Snatcher” and it was published in Jammu, which made her very happy, and she found a way to move forward.

She also said that her parents and teachers have always encouraged her about writing. “The book is available in markets as well as school libraries,” she said.

“I am fond of Iqbal’s poetry since my childhood and began to understand his poetry because I have been interested in writing,” she said.

Hurriarah said that she is currently working on another novel, which will be published in the coming months—(KNO)
