Meet Sopore’s Karate Gold Medalist who defeated Chinese rival in Abu Dhabi

Sopore, Oct 13: A Karate gold medalist, Adil Bahadur of Chakrode Khan Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has won 10 gold medals at national as well as international levels. The youth has even defeated his Chinese rival inside the ring at international level.

The 18-year-old youth went through several struggles during his initial stage by pursuing his dream in Karate but that did not deter him from becoming a champion in Karate, winning medals for Jammu and Kashmir and embarking on his dream of creating a healthy sports ecosystem for children.

Adil after becoming a star not only at national but at international level too has now started his own academy where he trains the children in the society at his ancestral village Doabgah Sopore.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), he said the government should come forward to boost this Karate sport as more and more children are coming forward in it.

He said that many youth have already represented Kashmir at International level despite having zero support and other facilities from the government for pursuing their career in this sport.

Bahadur said Karate has now become a craze among the youngsters and the government should come forward to help the youth to remain busy in the sport so that they will stay away from drugs.

He further said on 18th November 2018, his dream was fulfilled when he defeated a Chinese fighter, his rival inside the ring at Abu Dhabi—(KNO)
