Kulgam, Oct 30 The three BJP workers who were gunned down by militants on Thursday night were laid to rest in their native villages of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday. Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar visited the spot and the native villages of slain workers while BJP leaders led by Jammu Kashmir President Ravinder Raina also visited the bereaved families and expressed his sympathies.

Sources told news agency KNT that those who visited the slain workers families included Ravinder Raina, Vice President BJP Sofi Yousuf, Spokesperson Altaf Thakur, Election Incharge Asif Masoodi, General Secretary Gujar and Bakarwal BJP Anwar Khan, Arif Raja, Muhammad Rafiq Wani, Wajahat Hussain, Sideq Haq Khan.

Over 500 people participated in the funeral prayers of slain BJP Yuva Morcha General Secretary Fida Hussain at YK Pora. Sources said that funeral prayers in respect of Umar Hajam in the same village was offered by a gathering of around 600 people and it was lead by slain’s relative.

Over thousand people took part in the funeral of another slain Haroon Rashid Beigh at Soput Kulgam.

BJP Jammu Kashmir President Ravinder Raina said that all the three youth killed in militant attack were BJP workers.

“I am very sad. Our three senior party members have left us. Irrespective of post and position, everyone associated with BJP is jewel of the party. Worker’s problem is my problem. Those who have given their lives for the party or for the country will be remembered. This is the handiwork of Pakistan. I warn Pakistan and I reiterate that we are not going to bow before anyone,” Raina said.

BJP Jammu Kashmir Vice President demanded transfer of DC and SSP Kulgam. He alleged that despite repeated requests, the authorities didn’t provide security to these vulnerable BJP workers.

Meanwhile, police claimed that it located the car that was used for the attack. The white Alto Car (JK03D-6126) was found in a walnut orchard at Adsoo, Telwani village of Achabal. It was abandoned there and was found by Achabal police and later on handed over to Kulgam police.

Witnesses told KNT that shortly after the location of the car, soldiers from 18 RR and police emerged in the orchards and a search operation was launched, however, nothing suspicious was found. (KNT)
