Anantnag, Nov 09: A 10th class student from Anantnag district of South Kashmir has completed his martial art course and is set to start an academy to teach the art and skills to the youth from southern districts of South Kashmir.
Muneer Ahmad Tantray(15) son of Tawqeer Ahmad Tantray, resident of Hiller village in Kokernag Tehsil of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district has completed his black belt training course from Karate Association of India and All India Dhamika Kai Karate Federation.
Speaking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), he said that since his childhood he was interested in martial arts and such arts are very rare here that it took him years to find a teacher.
“When I was in class 6, somehow I managed to find a teacher Gh Nabi from Kulgam who used to teach me at Wazir Bagh Anantnag. However, he couldn’t continue due to his personal issues,” he said. “I got inspired to learn this art through movies.”
Later he found a teacher Aamir Gulzar Dar from Verinag, who trained him very well and presently he is black in all three forms of martial art including sport, traditional and self-defense.
“My passion towards this art is growing and I want to be one of the best martial art player,” he said. “Due to lack of platform, I wandered from place to place to learn. Lack of infrastructure and little cognizance of the government towards this issue is making it hard for hundreds of youth to learn, who are interested in this field.”
He said that government never supported me. “I am teaching some youth and very soon I will come-up with an academy at Anantnag, where I can teach others,” he said. “I am getting very much support from the family.”—(KNO)
