People are dying of diseases other than COVID due to want of treatment: DAK President

Srinagar, July 28: There are deaths occurring from other ailments too other than COVID. The patients with varied ailments are dying due to want of treatment, said Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) President Nissar Ul Hassan.

Since the focus currently is mostly on COVID related cases people are dying of other health conditions like heart attack, Brain Haemorrhage, DAK President told CNS.

“The emergency patient care is badly hit and those who are in need of medical consultation avoid visiting hospitals as they are worried that they might contract COVID disease in the hospital,” said the President DAK.

He further added, “There is no doubt that the number of COVID patients is rising and we have to learn to live with this virus.”

“We should learn from previous pandemics like SARS and rather than going into panic mode trying to establish more and more makeshift ICU units with required infrastructure and machinery as well as proper manpower. Since all these months we are into this pandemic which is spreading day by day”, said Dr. Nissar.

“The government should have by now taken necessary steps to save people who are suffering from diseases other than COVID”, he added. (CNS)
