To observe August 05 as a ‘Golden Day’ in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP, Valmiki Samaj organizations and some Hindu organizations held events at different places in Jammu during which the national flag was unfurled and the national anthem was played.

At Mukherjee Chowk in Kathua district, BJP held an event in which UT President of party, Ravinder Raina was present as Chief Guest wherein a 110 feet high national flag was unfurled.

Talking to media persons, Raina as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Correspondent said that August 05 is a golden day for Jammu and Kashmir as on this day in 2019, Narendra Modi led central government abrogated Article 370 and 35-A, which was promoting terrorism, separatism and pro-Pakistan ideology in J&K.

“Many people have sacrificed their lives for the sake and a dream got fulfilled on August 5 last year,” Raina said as per KNO Correspondent.

Similar events were held in all the ten districts of Jammu province wherein BJP and other organizations held events of small scale and celebrated the first anniversary of abrogation of Article 35-A and 370.

The Valmiki Samaj organizations observed the day by holding small scale events during which the participants unfurled tri-color on their houses.

“We are living in Jammu since decades but no citizenship was granted and only after removal of Article 370 and 35-A, we have received citizenship through domicile,” the leaders from Valmiki Samaj said, adding that it is only after the scrapping of special status that their educated children will be able to get employment in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, in Samba, Panthers Party staged a protest and demanded restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

“We held a protest at Samba to mark the first anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 and on this day, we demand restoration of Statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, which was a pride State of Dogra’s,” the protesting Panthers Party leaders said.

“We are receiving gifts in the form of tolls at places across Jammu and even the basic right, 4G mobile internet services stand snatched since a year now,” they said.

Meanwhile, some leaders from different mainstream political parties were kept under house detention at some places especially in Rajouri as well as in Kishtwar.

“The day passed off peacefully. Events of small scale were held across Jammu province but the gathering in every such event was too limited due to COVID-19. Not even a single untoward incident was reported from anywhere,” a senior police officer, wishing anonymity said.

“At a few places, unofficial restrictions remained in place for some hours,” witnesses said—(KNO)
