Srinagar, Aug 8: In response to the claims made by Jammu Kashmir Chief Secretary, senior politician Muzaffar Shah Saturday said Mr Subramaniyam is making sweeping statements like Bhartiya Janata Party. Shah said that J&K Chief Secretary is in fact a ‘BJP man’ who is habitual of talking in air without knowing ground reality.
The Chief Secretary in an interview had said that Jammu and Kashmir was a broken state and there was no system in place due to years of misgovernance, corruption and unbelievable levels of fraud committed by leaders of mainstream parties and separatist organizations.
“Mr Chief Secretary, doing politics is not your job. Go and arrange water for people who protest day in and day out. Paddy fields are burning. People have thousands of grievances and you should address them instead of talking politics,” Shah told news agency KNT.
He said if corruption in Jammu and Kashmir has happened, then it is the responsibility of the Chief Secretary and the Central Government to identify the culprits and punish them.
“All agencies are at your beck and call, Mr Chief Secretary. Why don’t you investigate the corruption matters and book those politicians who according to you have committed fraud. What stops you from taking action? When you can send politicians to jail, why can’t you prove corruption charges against them,” Shah said.
“Please don’t make sweeping statements like BJP. Talk only when you have solid proof,” he said.
Muzafar Shah said that the silence of people in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 is killing those at the helm of affairs. “I salute people of Kashmir for maintaining silence and this is really killing those who had thought something otherwise.”
In response to a question, Shah said if the Chief Secretary claims that fraud was committed in Jammu Kashmir Bank, then he should know that it was BJP that were partners in that fraud. This party was ruling in Jammu Kashmir in coalition with PDP. “We will be happy if the Chief Secretary will expose the corrupt,” he said. (KNT)
