Sarpanchs, Panchs not detained but kept at safer places: IGP

Srinagar, Aug 17: Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar Monday said that Sarpanchs, Panchs and BDC’s have not been detained but kept at safer places till suitable arrangements are made for them.

A large number of BJP workers mostly Sarpanchs, Panchs and BDC’s were asked to get shifted to safer places.

Scores of these people according to news agency KNT yesterday staged a protest against the administration. They were demanding to allow them to go to their respective homes.

In response to a question, IGP Vijay Kumar refuted these reports that these Sarpanchs, Panchs and BDC’s have been detained. He said that they have been kept at safer places and this measure has been taken for their safety. “They will remain there till safer arrangements are made for them,” he said. (KNT)
