Ganderbal, Aug 20: Protesters blocked Srinagar-Leh highway near Ganewan village of Kangan here in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district after a speeding truck crushed a little girl to death on Thursday.
Eyewitnesses told news agency KNT that an LP truck (JK01A-2124) on way to Srinagar from Leh hit an 8 year old girl near Ganewan due to which the girl died on spot.
The driver after alighting from his truck, boarded another truck and fled from the spot.
Shortly after the accident, locals hit the road and blocked the Srinagar-Leh highway. Police rushed to spot and assured swift action.
The protest was going on till the filing of this report.
