Srinagar, Aug 20: Over a dozen females from Batamaloo area of Srinagar city tried to march towards the Civil Secretariat to protest against water shortage. However, police blocked their passage near the police control room and dispersed them peacefully.
Sources told KNT that amid sloganeering over a dozen ladies from Batamaloo tried to proceed towards Civil Secretariat Srinagar. A team from police station Batamaloo, stopped these protesting women near the control room and assured them their grievances will be taken up with the concerned authorities.
Witnesses added after assurances from police, the protesting women dispersed peacefully.
Pertinently, multiple areas of Batamaloo are facing acute water shortage from past month, triggering protests almost on a daily basis. (KNT)
