Two days after shot at by her husband, Bandipora woman succumbs

Bandipora, Aug 29: A 50-year-old woman, who was critically injured on Thursday after she was allegedly shot at by her husband in a fit of rage over some issue in Bandipora, succumbed to her injuries at Srinagar hospital on Saturday evening.

A senior police told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a retired Army captain, Ghulam Hassan Khan shot his wife identified as Fatima Begum (50) with a 12-bore gun after an argument ensued between the couple in Shokbaba village of Bandipora.

Following the incident, Fatima suffered critical head injuries and was shifted to the district hospital Bandipora, he said.

After initial treatment, she was later referred to the SMHS Hospital Srinagar for specialized treatment as her condition was critical, the officer said.

The officer further said that after two days, the injured woman has succumbed to her injuries at SMHS hospital Srinagar.

After postmortem, the body will be handed over to her legal heirs for last rites while her husband has been arrested. “A case under relevant sections of laws has been registered and further investigation has been taken up,” he said—(KNO)
