Duo riding on a Scooty with Rs 6 lakh arrested from Awantipora

Awantipora, Sep 15, KNT: Police Tuesday claimed that they arrested two militant sympathizers and recovered cash to the tune of Rs 6 lakh from South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A police official told news agency KNT that two persons riding on a Scooty (JK01AC- 4035) were stopped by Awantipora police and CRPF personnel near Ladhoo Crossing. Both these persons were on way to Khrew from South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

“After frisking, Rs 6 lakhs were recovered from them. Besides cash, incriminating material of militant outfit Al-Bader was recovered from their possession.The Scooty was seized and the duo arrested,” he said.

He identified the duo as Rayees-ul-Hassan resident of Gadikhal Awantipora and Mushtaq Ahmad Mir of Dadsara Awantipora.

The official said that cash recovered from the duo was meant for militant outfit Al-Badar. “An FIR vide number 55/2020 under relevant sections of Unlawful Activities Act has been registered in Police Station Khrew,” the official said. (KNT)
