Day 2: 01 militant killed, army trooper injured, operation continues in Charar-i-Shareef

Srinagar, Sep 22:A militant has been killed in an ongoing Gunfight which erupted on Monday evening in Charer-i- Shareef area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Official sources told GNS that a militant has been killed in ongoing encounter, however identity of the slain militant couldn’t be ascertained yet.

The operation was halted due to darkness yesterday, as the first light of this morning striked, operation was again resumed, the official sources added.

Yesterday in intial exchange of firing one army trooper sustained splinter injury, who was shifted to 92 Base hospital for specialised treatment.

Earlier, According to the reports reaching GNS, a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in charar shareef.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.(GNS)
