Army soldier along with 2 Kupwara girls detained at Srinagar

Srinagar, Sep 12: Tourist police Saturday detained two girls from North Kashmir’s Kupwara district along with an Army soldier when they were walking in suspicious state at Srinagar Airport.

Sources told News Agency KNT that they were detained and handed them over to police station Humhama. Sources said these girls and the army soldier were being questioned at police station.

The army soldier in question has been identified as Sepoy Roshan Kumar of 17 Bihar Regiment. Both the girls are from Teetwal Kupwara and the soldier in question is also posted at Teetwal.

Pertinently, on Sep 12 this month, Lance Naik Ashok Kumar Paul son of Rajander Pal, a resident of Uttar Pradesh who deputed at Ajas Bandipora with 13 Rashtriya Rifles was arrested with two Bandipora girls.

A police official said that it was not an issue at all. He said the girls were without tickets. “Nobody was detained and questioned,” he said.

Sources said that during questioning the girls have revealed that they had come to Airport to see off the soldier as he is their family friend. (KNT)
