While watching IPL match on mobile Policeman falls off roof, dies

Srinagar, Oct 08: A constable of the Odisha Special Armed Police (OSAP) died after falling from the roof of a 3 storey police barrack building, while watching the 2020 (IPL) match on his cellphone, police said on Tuesday.

The incident was reported from Chandili area in Odisha’s Rayagada district. The deceased has been identified as Yogeshwar Das (27), who was a resident of Nabarangpur.

Das was sitting on the roof of the barrack and watching an IPL match on his cellphone on Tuesday evening. In excitement, he lost his balance all of a sudden and accidentally fell down from the roof.

He was taken to a nearby hospital by his colleagues, but he succumbed to his injuries. Das, who was a native of Tentulikhunti in Nabarangpur district, had joined the OSAP 3rd Battalion in Koraput in 2013, and was transferred to Rayagada five months ago.
