Kupwara, Oct 19: Police Monday arrested a man for presenting himself as police officer on his WhatsApp Display Picture (DP) in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The man is working as an Insurance Agent in a private company, a police official told news agency KNT adding that he has been arrested by police in Dragmulla, Kupwara.
The official said that the man identified as Showkat Ahmed Peer, a resident of Dragmulla had uploaded his photograph donning police uniform on his personal WhatsApp. He was using this photograph as DP to ‘befool’ and ‘threat’ others and thus was maligning the image of police.
Police took cognizance of his WhatsApp DP and registered a case under relevant sections against him.
