Srinagar, Oct 20 (KNO): A Kashmir based NGO is going to organize a Nikkah ceremony of over 15 couples in Srinagar in November to promote simple Nikkah ceremonies in the valley.
Chairman of the NGO “We The Helping Hand”, Umar Wani while taking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that their aim is just to promote simple Nikkah in Kashmir and anyone who wants to perform his/her Nikkah in this ceremony, can contact them. “On November 21st we are going to organize the Nikkah ceremony of over 15 couples.”
He added that if there is any girl who is unable to perform her Nikkah due to financial and dowry like issues, the NGO is ready to help her and will bear all the expenses, besides her identity will be kept hidden.
“All arrangements including the expenses of hiring a place, presence of prominent muftis and molvis besides arrangements of lunch and tea will be borne by the organization, he said
He said that this ceremony is being organized only to promote the culture of simple Nikkah so that the society will not face the burden of dowry and any sister will not remain unmarried.
“You know in Srinagar only, there are over 35 thousand girls who are overage now but due to financial and dowry issues, they are yet to get married,” he said, adding that there is need to promote simple Nikkah so that no one faces any such situation in the future.
“Everyone must promote this and perform Nikkah with simplicity so that any girl will not remain unmarried due to these social evils,” he said—(KNO)
