Srinagar, Nov 21: Despite the BJP-Led Government claiming that the abrogation of Article 370 was to check a control at the spike in Militancy, the figures reveal otherwise and show that the said intent has failed as of yet.

The official data contradicts the claims of the BJP-led Government and suggest that 2020 saw the second highest militant spike in the last 10 years, as per a report published by News 18.

Figures reveal there isn’t much of a gap between the number of militants killed and youth joining militancy.

During various Anti Militancy operations this year, from January to the first week of November 171 Local militants have been killed and around 145 youth joined various Militant outfits. 20 Foreign Militants were also killed this year.

News 18 quoted an official as saying that a gap of 40 to 50 operatives this year will not change the complexion of militancy, “In fact, officials are surprised at the fairly good recruitment numbers this year, despite a bar on the funeral rallies of militants and a slow internet spped,” the report added.

As per a new government policy, the bodies of militants killed in encounters are not handed over to their families to avoid big congregations. Instead, a few close relatives are allowed to participate in the burials far away from their homes.
