Bandipora, Nov 21: Scores of students from Kilshay village of Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district have demanded re-examination of Social Science subject of 10th standard as they failed to appear in the examinations due to closure of the road that connects them with Tulail Tehsil.

The students, who missed their examination on November 15, told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the village is some 10 kilometres away from Tulail and due to closure of the road after heavy snowfall in the area, they couldn’t appear in the examination.

They said that they missed the Social Science paper that day and they urge the authorities to conduct re-examination of the paper for them. “The examination centre is about 10 kilometres away from our village and the only road connecting the village with Tulail was closed due to heavy snowfall in the area. We couldn’t sit in the examination due to closure of the road,” said a student, Rafiq Ahmad Khan.

The students appealed to the administration to look into the matter and help conduct re-examination of the same paper so that their academic year does not go waste.

Meanwhile, an official posted in Gurez said that this may have happened due to the accumulation of snow and the road leading to the village is in a dilapidated condition.

He further said that the area has no communication that is why they also have not received any information regarding the same.

When contacted Chief Education Officer (CEO) Bandipora, Javid Iqbal said that they have not received any such complaint yet and if there is any such case, the students should contact their local school authorities for redressal of their grievance immediately.

He also said that still, they would look into the matter and accordingly, bring the issue into the notice of higher authorities.

Pertinently, the Gurez Valley received heavy snowfall last week following which the Bandipora-Gurez road was also closed—(KNO)
