Srinagar, Nov 30: After helping people with depression and paying medical bills of patients during Covid-19 lockdown, a 23-year- old MBBS student is now providing financial support to many deprived girls in getting them married.

Seerat-ul-Din, who hails from Shivpora locality of Srinagar has so far provided financial support to many poor and orphan girls.

While talking with Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Seerat said that due to financial constraints, many girls in Jammu and Kashmir are getting over-aged and are finding it hard to get married.

“Situation after August 05 (abrogation of Article 370) last year, has turned even grimmer,” she said.

“There is a need to support such poor girls so that they can also get married and live a happy life,” she said. “I have helped several girls so far. It gives me peace of mind.”

Seerat said she donates whatever help she gets from her family and also pursued her friends to donate as well.

“I later hand over it to the needy girls in both cash as well as in others forms,” she said.

Seerat said that she has inherited her philanthropist genes from her grandfather.

“Since childhood when anyone asked me what is my aim, I used to reply to have an orphanage and an old age home,” she said. “The real happiness is when you make others happy.”

Seerat first came into limelight during Covid-19 lockdown, when she helped hundreds of patients to come out of depression and anxiety.

Pursuing her career in medical, Seerat didn’t charge a single penny from the patients, and instead asked them to donate her fee to orphanages.

“I request everybody to come forward and help poor girls in getting married, before it will be too late for them,” she said—(KNO)
