Casual labour tries to immolate self in Veerinag

Anantnag, Dec 05: A casual labour working in Range office Verinag Anantnag on Saturday tried to set himself ablaze alleging that his salary has been withheld.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that casual labour Ashiq Hussian Naikoo of Batagund Verinag tried to immolate himself as his salary has been withheld.

He said that the other employees present there stopped him from doing so.

Ashiq Hussian alleged that DFO Anantnag and Range officer Verinag have been releasing salaries in favour of the blue-eyed persons and poor are being neglected.

When contacted, Range officer Imtiyaz Ahmed, said that he was on election duty and the person may not have received salary due to issues in his account.

He assured that the matter will be investigated and salary will be given to him and to those who also have not received their salaries—(KNO)
