Publishes her 1st poetry book

Budgam, Dec 05 : After suffering from a depression from her childhood days, an 18- year- old girl was drawn to poetry to find solace. Three years down the line, a reputed publishing house has decided to publish her collection of poems.

Aroosa Ashraf, who hails from Zaloosa Charar-e-Sharief, is releasing her first poetry book “Fifth Chamber of Heart” on 6 December at DPS Athwajan Srinagar.

Aroosa, who is an art student of 11th class at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Charar-e-Sharief, says that her book reflects the emotions which can relate to any ordinary person.

“My poetry gives an idea of what today’s youth suffers from. I think this is not only my feelings, but these are the feelings of each and every teenager.” Arusa said while talking with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)

The journey for Aroosa has not been easy, though being so young, her fight with depression created a lot of hurdles for her to complete the book.

” I am suffering from depression, so while in isolation, some words came into my mind and when started murmuring it, it eventually came out as a poem. That is how it all started,” she said.

Aroosa said she was 11 when she first starts writing the poetry. She attributes her lingual talent to her “disturbed and traumatic childhood”. Aroosa said that she is very sensitive about mental health and the stigmas attached to it, and thus it was a conscious decision to dedicate most of her writings on this topic.

“I want to heal people who are suffering from depression, or even inspire them to speak about it and fight it out.

Apart from her aspiration to be an ardent voice of strength for teens suffering from mental health issues, Aroosa is a staunch believer in humans rights and gender equality.

“In future, I want to practice a profession that allows me to fight for people’s rights,” she said.

Being an introvert, writing for Aroosa is the only way to communicate her ideas, feelings and beliefs. Aroosa credits her success to her parents who she said have helped her in shaping her life irrespective of difficult situations.

Arusa said that it took her three years to complete her maiden book. The book will be available in all the book stores in the market as well as on Amazon, Flipkart, Candle and Google—(KNO)
