New Delhi, Dec 06: While the Central government employees await hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, reports are now abuzz that before DA hike the employees are going to get a salary hike by the end of this month.

If latest reports are to be believed, this salary hike will be as per the recommendations of 7th CPC, while more than 50 lakh central government employees would be benefited if this happens. A decision in this regard is likely to be taken in the next Cabinet meeting.

In addition to this, it is expected that the salary of non-gazetted medical staff of the Indian Railways may be hiked up to Rs 21,000 under the 7th Pay Commission.

It is further believed that employees working as non-gazetted medical staff in the Indian Railways would avail the benefit of promotion and a hike. Subsequently with the promotion under the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, the salary of these non-gazetted medical staff will also increase, reports suggest.

As per latest reports, it is expected that the salary of these non-gazetted medical staff would be increased by minimum Rs 5,000 per month. What this will do is their HRA, DA and TA will also see an increase.

The Indian Railways has reportedly approved increase in salary of non-gazetted medical staff which include health and malaria inspector, laboratory staff, staff nurse, physiotherapist, radiographer, pharmacist, dietitian and family welfare organization staff.

It is pertinent to mention that a hike in the basic pay has been a long-standing demand of the Central government employees. For months, they have been demanding to increase the minimum salary to Rs 26,000 per month from the current Rs 18000 per month. This apart, they have also demanded the Centre to raise the fitment factor.

As far as Dearness Allowance is concerned, the central government employees are presently getting 17 per cent DA and they are awaiting a hike in the DA for the January-June 2020 period which they are likely to receive from July 2021 onwards. The central government employees will not be paid arrears from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021, and the DA rate is expected to be revised again on July 1, sources said. (OdishaTV)
