Jammu, Jan 18: Two alleged militant operatives from Kashmir were arrested in Ramban district along with arms and ammunition, officials said on Monday.
“Police jointly with SOG Jammu busted a militant module by arresting two valley based militant operatives and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from their possession,” officials said.
“Initial investigation reveals that two operatives—Umar Ahmed Malik son of Abdul Ahmed Malik and Suhail Ahmed Malik son of Mohammad Yaseen Malik, both residents of Semthan, Bijbehara Anantnag, working under a plot hatched by Kashmir based militant and their Pak based JeM handler Aqib alias Alfa from Budgam clandestinely travelled from Kashmir to the International Border at Vijaypur, Samba and received arms and ammunition dropped with the help of drones,” they said.
Recoveries include two AK-74 rifles, one pistol, sixteen grenades, nine AK magazines and 269 live bullets of pistol besides two magazines.
SSP Ramban Dr Haseeb Ul Rahman confirmed to GNS the arrest and recoveries. “Further investigations are underway,” he said. (GNS)
