Shopian, Jan 23: A 20-year old youth from Shopian has been selected for famous Real Kashmir football club recently.
Sannan Iqbal, a resident of Bungam in Shopian town is known for his abilities in football as a goalkeeper and is inspiring dozens of youth towards football.
Sannan while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that since class 8th he had a tryst with football and is playing at various stages.
“My father died few years before which affected my carrier, however, my mother and uncle supported and encouraged me to continue this game,” he said. “Last year I represented J&K as state goalkeeper and I hope in coming time I will get to represent J&K at other stages to showcase my talent.”
Sannan said getting an opportunity to be part of Real Kashmir club is a very big achievement.
“It seems my hard work is starting to pay,” he said.
Real Kashmir Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in the valley that competes in the I-League.
They are the first club from Kashmir to compete in any first division football league in the country. The club participated in their first national competition in September 2016 when they played in the 2016 Durand Cup. In July 2017 Real Kashmir FC became the first club from Jammu and Kashmir to play on foreign soil by playing 4 matches in Scotland. Real Kashmir FC is participating in all four categories of the AIFF—(KNO)
