Traffic to ply from Sgr to Jammu on Feb 6: Officials

Srinagar, Feb 05: After remaining closed for traffic movement on Friday for maintenance, traffic authorities have decided to allow traffic from Jammu towards Srinagar on 06 February.

Traffic authorities while speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “the traffic will run from Kashmir towards Jammu only, and no vehicle from the opposite direction will be allowed to move.”

Meanwhile, Mughal road t which connects the Valley with Jammu through the Shopian-Rajouri continue to be closed for traffic due to heavy snow accumulation in the area.

With the end of 40- day harsh winter period ‘Chillai-Kalan’ on 31 January, people in the Valley have got some respite from freezing cold.

People in the valley faced immense hardships this year during the harsh winter phase of ‘Chillai- Kalan’. Many water bodies got frozen including the parts of world-famous Dal Lake.

Breaking a 30-year-old record, the temperature touched a record of minus 8.8 this winter, leading to the freezing of water supply pipelines.

Meanwhile, the MET has predicted dry weather for next week—(KNO)
