Srinagar, Mar 05: The Meteorological Department has predicted a two-day wet spell from Saturday with the possibility of light to moderate rainfall in plains and snow in higher reaches on Sunday.

In a forecast issued here, the MeT department has said that there is possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and light to moderate snow over higher reaches during late night of Saturday and Sunday. The MeT has said that from Sunday evening there would be a decrease in both intensity and distribution of the rains and snowfall. There is also possibility of heavy snow over isolated places particularly over higher reaches on Sunday, the MeT forecast said.

As per the MeT advisory, the wet spell could cause disruption of surface transport over higher reaches. There is also a possibility of landslides and shooting stones over the 270-kilometre Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and hailstorm at isolated places over plains of Jammu division, the MeT advisory said. The inclement weather during the weekend is likely to lead to a fall in maximum temperatures by 4 to 8 degrees Celsius.
