Srinagar, Apr 28: The government on Wednesday said that the Board of School Education (BOSE) for Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh will continue to remain affiliated with the JKBOSE until the culmination of the academic year 2021-22.

The news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has learnt that the Administrative Secretary to government for School Education Department, B K Singh said, “Board of School Education for UT of Jammu and Kashmir shall serve the UT of Ladakh till the end of academic year 2021-22.”

Earlier, in 2020, a committee constituted in this regard had proposed establishment of a new territorial board in Ladakh by emphasizing that the schools in the region be affiliated to a board which fulfills the needs of the students as per the natural conditions of the UT.

At that time, it was also pointed out during the committee has said that there is a provision in the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill, 2019 for continuing with the same board, but since the erstwhile state was bifurcated into two Union territories, it would be difficult to manage the administrative affairs of the board—(KNO)
