DGP Ranctions 45 lakh Special Relief for NoKs of Deceased SPOs

Srinagar, May 28: In order to provide financial assistance to the families of the SPOs who have passed away due to illness or fighting militancy while in service, the Director General of Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees 45 lakh as special relief in favour of dependents and legal heirs of such personnel.

The special relief of rupees five lakh each, as per a police bulletin issued to GNS, has been sanctioned in favour of dependents-cum-legal heirs of eight deceased SPOs namely Sanjeev Kumar, Beli Ram, Rajinder Singh, Madan Lal, Bhagat Singh, Mansa Ram, Halima Begum and Gh Mohi-ud-din Khan who expired due to health related issues during the course of their engagement with the Police organization, while as rupees five lakh special relief has also been sanctioned in favour of Martyr SPO Nazir Ahmad Khan who attained martyrdom in a militant attack on 29.03.2021 at Sopore.

Rupees fifty thousand each was already paid to the deceased families for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of Contributory Police Welfare Fund of SPOs, it reads.

Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses, it concludes.
