Rs 5.45 lakhs penalty imposed on 07 erring FBOs at Anantnag

Anantnag, Feb 25: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ananntag, Dr Sheikh Mohd Ashraf (Adjudicating Officer) today imposed a penalty of Rs 545000 on 07 Food Business Operators including some prominent Companies for contravention of the Food Safety And Standards Act.

 The penalty has been imposed in exercise of the powers vested with the Additional Deputy Commissioner under section-68.

The accused during the trial of the cases filed by the Food Safety Department were convicted as they were found violating the regulatory provisions of law on the subject.

The statutory samples procured by the Food Safety Officers of the District on analysis at National Food Laboratory Ghaziabad and Food Laboratory Kashmir were declared as of Sub-Standard and Misbranded Quality.

The ADC after considering the complaints filed by the Food Safety Department and the submissions made by the authorized counsels on behalf of the Accused came to the conclusion that the charges of contravention of aforementioned provisions of Food Safety and Standards act were substantiated and warranted imposition of penalty on the accused to the extent of the provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act.
