West Bengal, April 21: The Advance Healthcare Foundation , an NGO dedicated to promote health and wellness, organized a three-day session at Army Public School, Sukna, from 18th to 20th April. The session, themed ‘Digital-Physical-Mental Well-being,’ was designed to equip students with the essential tools for maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle in today’s interconnected world.
The session kickstarted in APS Sukna’s auditorium on April 18 with the welcome speech of Principal Army Public School, sukna. This was followed by an Inaugural address from Chairman APS Sukna, Brig. Arora . Dr. Sreya Chattopadhyay, the founder of the Advance Healthcare Foundation and Director of BizInnovision, then took the stage to enlighten students with an insightful talk on the concept of Digital Detox to students of X, XI, and XII grades. Engaging videos were displayed to illustrate the issue of digital addiction, making the session interactive. The students learned about the perils of excessive digital consumption and the importance of a balanced approach to digital and physical activities. They were encouraged to periodically disconnect from digital devices to preserve their mental and physical well-being. Following the presentation, the students shared their own experiences with digital addiction and discussed the value of digital detox. Dr. Chattopadhyay provided guidance on effective detox methods, which led to a productive exchange of ideas on the topic. Subsequently, Dr. AK Pal, Head of the Orthopedics Department at NJP Govt Medical College, provided an informative session on physical fitness. He highlighted the importance of holistic well-being throughout the day. Students were educated practical morning routines that included deep breathing exercises and stretching, helping them to connect with themselves and their surroundings as they start their day. Following this, Mr. Sourish conducted a talk on mindfulness. Throughout this talk students were educated on mental health education and emotional literacy and were engaged in understanding the components of mental health, empowering them to nurture their minds amidst the digital era.
The second day of the session took place in “Trishakti auditorium” . The entire day was dedicated to educate parents about “Positive Parenting ” and assist their children in maintaining a healthy lifestyle in today’s digital world. Dr. Sreya Chattopadhyay addressed the causes and indicators of digital addiction among children, providing parents with strategies to recognize and combat this issue. She outlined how parents can recognize signs of digital addiction in their children and offered strategies to help them overcome it. She stressed the importance of parental involvement and the need for parents to spend quality time with their children. Following this ,Dr. AK Pal provided valuable insights into developing positive health practices within families and focused on community engagement and open communication. Subsequently Mr. Sourish highlighted the increasing challenges parents face in daily communication with their children. The discussion covered various aspects of positive parenting, and an interactive session with the parents was held to explore these concepts further. At the conclusion of the session , all parents in attendance expressed positive feedback about the entire event and extended their gratitude to the Advance Healthcare Foundation for organizing such informative sessions in schools. They acknowledged the urgent need for these programs and suggested that they should be conducted quarterly to continually support and educate families on positive parenting practices.
On the concluding day at APS Sukna’s auditorium, all participants were trained in various activities that aligned with the session’s theme. Participants learned practical techniques to implement digital detox strategies in their daily lives. Through interactive exercises, participants experienced firsthand benefits of disconnecting from digital devices and engaging in physical and mental wellness practices. The Advance Healthcare Foundation inspired the students with awards, which were graciously distributed by Mrs. Arora. Inspired by the sessions, the students committed to a five-day digital detox challenge from April 21 to April 25. They pledged to share their experiences and the outcomes of their digital detox journey afterwards.
