Qazigund, Aug 4: The NSS unit of Qazigund, in collaboration with the Department of English, organized an intra-college quiz competition to celebrate Independence Day. The program was held under the patronage of principal Prof. Dr. Gh. Hassan Thakur. The competition focused on the theme of the Freedom Struggle and National Heroes, providing students with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of India’s rich history and the sacrifices made for its independence.
The program commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Aufaq Ahmad Zargar (HOD Computer Science), who underscored the importance of remembering the freedom struggle and the sacrifices of our national heroes. Following this, the event organizers, Prof. Showkat Ahmad Malik, NSS Coordinator and HOD Education, and Prof. Nehad Kaniz Fatima, HOD English, addressed the students. They spoke passionately about the Independence movement, emphasizing the contributions of the leaders and heroes whose efforts have gifted us the dawn of freedom.
The competition featured four teams: A, B, C, and D. The judges, Dr. Tabassum Hassan and Dr. Mohammad Hussain Wani, meticulously maintained the scoreboard throughout the event. Team A emerged as the winners with a score of 95, while Team D secured the runner-up position with a score of 70. The audience’s proactive participation contributed to an enjoyable and enriching learning experience for everyone involved.
