Anantnag: Aug 17: The Department of Cardiology at GMC Anantnag, led by Dr. Syed Maqbool, Dr. Shameem Iqbal, and Dr. Showkat Shah, with the support of technical staff, successfully performed the first CRT-P implantation under C-arm guidance at GMC Anantnag. The procedure, which is typically done in a cath lab, was carried out under a C-arm due to the cath lab being in the process of installation at GMC Anantnag. This marks the first case of CRT-P done under C-arm in Jammu & Kashmir.
In a statement, GMC Anantnag said, “GMC Anantnag creates history with the first CRT-P implantation under C-arm in J&K. A 50-year-old female patient with DCM (EF 20%) and LBBB (QRS 170 msec) underwent successful CRT-P implantation, resulting in QRS narrowing down to 110 msec.”
The statement further said, “The procedure, which is usually done in a cath lab, was performed under C-arm because the cath lab is currently being installed. This is the first case of CRT-P done under C-arm in J&K.”
“Our sincere thanks to Principal GMC Anantnag, Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, who provided immense support for carrying out such a complex procedure. We are also grateful to the ex-medical superintendent, Mr. Muzaffar Sherwani, and the OT staff, without whom we couldn’t have performed this procedure smoothly,” the statement added.
