Srinagar, Sep 9: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday met the father and other family members of detained Doda MLA Mehraj Malik, assuring them of his support and reiterating that slapping the Public Safety Act (PSA) on an elected representative was unjustified.

In a post on X CM Omar as per agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC wrote, Today, I met the father and other family members of Mr. Mehraj Malik, Hon’ble MLA Doda.

I reiterated that the use of PSA against the Hon’ble MLA is completely unjustified and a blatant misuse of the powers of preventive detention, reads the post.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister while speaking to media persons emphasized that differences, if any, should be addressed through the democratic process and Assembly procedures rather than through harsh laws like the PSA. (KNC)
