Anantnag, April 24: SSP Anantnag Amod Ashok Nagpure on Friday said police will use all legal provisions to act against drug-related activities and change the identification of the district Anantnag, while continuing a people-centric approach to address public issues.
Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), SSP Amod said he considers his posting in Anantnag an opportunity to serve the people and added that South Kashmir holds importance in policing. He said the police have adopted a people-centric approach from the beginning, allowing people to approach the office and raise their issues, which are being addressed within the legal framework.
Referring to the drug issue, he said it remains a challenge and that the district has been linked with drug supply for years. He said efforts are being made to change this identification and to create an environment where people can speak against drugs without fear.
He said the priorities of the police include maintaining law and order, preventing incidents, addressing public issues, and ensuring coordination between the administration and the public, along with action against drug-related activities.
The SSP said the police are also part of the “Nasha Mukta J&K” campaign and are taking steps such as registration of cases, investigation, identification of those involved, and action under the law. He added that properties linked to such activities are being attached and further legal measures are being taken.
He said coordination with departments and social groups is being carried out for awareness, adding that religious leaders have also appealed to people to stay away from drugs and support the police.
Amod said the police will ensure that no innocent person is affected and that action will be taken against those found involved, adding that all available legal measures will be used in the process.(KNS)
