Srinagar, Apr 30: Cyber Police Kashmir has registered an First information Report (FIR) against Iltija Mufti and others under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in a case over alleged separatist-supportive content circulated on social media and linked to slain separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, sources said on Thursday.

Sources said the case was registered after a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Iltija Mufti featuring Syed Ali Shah Geelani came to the notice of authorities. They told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that FIR No. 11 has been registered over separatist content under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with acts endangering the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.

FIR has also named other unidentified persons involved in sharing or amplifying the content online, they said,. adding that further investigation has been taken up by Cyber Police Kashmir to ascertain the intent and wider dissemination of the video. (KDC)
