Srinagar, May 6: In a major crackdown on narco-terror networks, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir on Wednesday attached immovable property belonging to a Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK)-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative involved in a high-profile narco-terror case, officials said.

Spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, SIA Kashmir attached immovable property belonging to a Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK)-based operative of the proscribed terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), who is involved in a major narco-terror case being investigated by the agency.

The action pertains to Case FIR No. 03/2023 of Police Station ANTF, initially registered by the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and subsequently transferred to SIA Kashmir for specialised investigation in view of the larger terror financing and cross-border narco-terror ramifications emerging during investigation, it reads.

Statement further reads, Investigations conducted by SIA Kashmir revealed that accused Zameer Ahmad Lone S/o Ahmad Gul Lone R/o Mandiyan Keran, Kupwara, presently operating from PoJK and affiliated with the banned terrorist organisation LeT, was actively engaged in narco-terror activities aimed at destabilising peace and security in the Union Territory. The accused had earlier been declared a proclaimed offender by the competent court for evading arrest and continuing anti-national activities from across the border.

Pursuant to a detailed application filed by SIA Kashmir before the competent court, the court, after examining the material placed on record, passed orders for attachment of the property belonging to the absconding accused, it reads.

In compliance with the court orders, SIA Kashmir today attached immovable property measuring 01 kanal and 14.37 marlas falling under Khasra No. 113 situated at Mandiyan Keran, Kupwara. The attachment proceedings were executed by a specialised SIA team in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and local revenue officials strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure, it reads.

Earlier, SIA Kashmir had also filed a comprehensive charge sheet before the competent court in the case after uncovering substantial evidence relating to narco-smuggling, terror financing and cross-border terror links, it reads.

Statement reads that, The action underscores the firm resolve of SIA Kashmir to dismantle the entire ecosystem of terrorism, including terror financing and narco-terror networks operating from across the border.

SIA remains committed to identifying, investigating and taking stringent legal action against individuals and entities involved in activities prejudicial to the sovereignty, integrity and security of the nation.

Moreover, in line with the broader national mission of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, the Jammu & Kashmir UT continues to intensify its efforts to combat drug abuse and dismantle narcotics networks that fuel terrorism, it said.

SIA Kashmir, in coordination with other law enforcement and civil agencies, remains committed not only to the investigation of narco-terror cases but also to supporting preventive and awareness initiatives aimed at building a drug-free society. (JKNS)
