MHA appoints IG Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi as CRPF IG, Seeks immediate relieving

Srinagar, June 1: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has appointed senior IPS officer Vidhi Kumar Birdi as Inspector General (IG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on deputation basis.

According to an Office Memorandum issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on June 1, 2026, a copy of which is in the possession of news agency Kashmir Dot Com, Birdi, a 2003-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as IG in the CRPF against an existing vacancy. The appointment has been approved by the competent authority and will be governed by the usual terms and conditions of central deputation.

The order states that Birdi will serve at Level-14 in the pay matrix and has been directed to take up his new assignment at the Centre.

The MHA has requested the concerned authorities to relieve Birdi immediately to enable him to assume charge of his new posting.
