Two Accidents in Jammu Division Leave Five Dead, Six Injured

Jammu, June 24: Two separate road accidents in Reasi and Doda districts on Wednesday left five persons dead and six others injured, officials said.

Official told GNS that in the first incident, two women were killed and four others, including three children, were injured after a Maruti Suzuki Brezza met with an accident in the Chiral Shajroo area of Reasi district at around 1:30 PM.

The vehicle, bearing registration number JK02DU-4204, was carrying members of a family from Chiral. The deceased were identified as Razia Begum, 49, wife of Liyaqat Hussain, and Tahira Parveen, 32, wife of Ashiq Hussain.

The injured include Ashiq Hussain, 34; Ehtisham, 4; Aira Choudhary, 6; and Aiman Choudhary, 11. Local residents rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital. They remain under medical observation. Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.

In another accident, three members of a Nagrota family were killed and two others injured in Doda district while returning from the Machail Mata Yatra.

Officials said details of the deceased and injured are being ascertained. The injured were evacuated to hospital for treatment.

Police in both districts have taken cognizance and further proceedings are underway.

The twin tragedies have cast a pall of gloom in Reasi and Jammu, with residents mourning the loss of lives.(GNS)
