New Delhi, July 18: Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Saturday visited Jantar Mantar here and extended solidarity to students who are on an indefinite hunger strike.

Ruhullah met the protesting students, listened to their concerns and described their agitation as a democratic struggle.

Addressing the gathering, the MP said that people in power should be judged by their character rather than the offices they hold.

He said those demanding their constitutional rights are often met with labels instead of dialogue, and drew parallels with the situation in Kashmir.

“Kashmir has lived through this for years. Today, the same is happening to you. This chain must break. A democracy can only thrive when citizens are heard, not silenced,” he said.

Ruhullah assured the students of his support and stressed the importance of upholding democratic values through dialogue and constitutional means. (GNS)
