Srinagar, Jul 24: The Amarnath Yatra, which remained suspended for six days due to inclement weather, will resume on Saturday from Pahalgam and Baltal routes, officials said on Friday.

A top official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that preparations are underway for the resumption of the pilgrimage following an improvement in weather conditions.

The yatra was suspended earlier this week after incessant rainfall rendered the tracks unsafe for pilgrims.

The official said the pilgrimage will resume on both the traditional Pahalgam route and the shorter but steeper Baltal route tomorrow.

The official said that the decision to resume yatra was take after weather improved and restoration work on the tracks was completed.

The Official advised pilgrims to follow directions issued by the administration and security agencies and undertake the yatra only as per the scheduled arrangements.

Pertinently, a robust security framework has been put in place, with thousands of personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other security agencies being deployed along the routes.

Around 20,000 pilgrims are camping at different locations and are eagerly awaiting the resumption of the yatra.

So far, more than 3.9 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine during the ongoing pilgrimage.

The 57-day pilgrimage commenced on July 3 and will conclude on August 28, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan—(KNO)
