Shopian, Aug 6: Shopian Police have registered two FIRs against organisers of separate wedding celebrations for allegedly violating the District Magistrate’s prohibitory orders by bursting firecrackers, reiterating that the ban remains in force and warning that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found flouting the restrictions.
As per news agency JKNS, Police have registered two FIRs in connection with incidents of firecracker bursting during marriage ceremonies in violation of the prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian.
Despite repeated public advisories and the promulgation of the District Magistrate’s orders prohibiting the use of firecrackers, the restrictions were violated during wedding celebrations. Accordingly, FIR No(s). 148/2026 & 151/2026 have been registered in Police Station Shopian and investigation has been initiated.
Shopian Police reiterate that the prohibitory orders remain in force and shall be enforced strictly. Any person found violating these orders shall face legal action as warranted under law.
The general public is advised to cooperate with the administration and police by adhering to the restrictions and ensuring that all social and public events are conducted in accordance with the law. (JKNS)
